Sugar T and The Swells

Sugar T and the Swells

Inspired by the classic Jump Blues and Rock 'n' Roll of the 50s and 60s - the music of Etta James, Dinah Washington, Little Richard, Johnny Otis et al - Sugar T and the Swells are among the slickest, sexiest and entertaining bands on the circuit, guaranteed to get any audience off their feet and onto the dancefloor.

The Swells were formed by bassist "Thump" Thompson (the original bassist from the Darts, who cut his teeth playing with John Lee Hooker and Howlin' Wolf) and trumpeter and band leader Ralph Lamb - a natural showman who has worked with a host of stars including Tom Jones and Jamiroquai. Fronted by the sassy Hazel Sim (aka Miss Sugar T) - a natural R'n'B vocalist with sex appeal beyond her 25 years, whose credits include PP Arnold, Just Jack and Matt Bianco, the band boasts such musicians as: Andy Ross, one of the UK's finest R'n'B saxmen, with experiences ranging from Chaka Khan and Lou Rawls to Jamie Cullum and Michael Buble, to Paul Anka on the Parkinson show; Adam Phillips - top drawer session guitarist who's recorded with Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Cher and countless other chart topping bands, although his first love is playing and singing the blues; drummer Micky Moody, son of British Blues legend and original Whitesnake member Micky Moody, who frequently guests with the Swells. The winning combination of hard swinging, tight arrangements, irresistible danceability and tongue in cheek humour make Sugar T and the Swells a hard act to beat...
