During that period he appeared in 21 hit films, cut just over 230 records, made 100's of stage performances including 2 Royal Command and entertained an estimated 3 million allied Service men and women throughout Europe and the Middle East during WWII. By 1939 Formby was the highest paid entertainer in the British Isles. Blackpool, UK became an iconic landmark and later the final resting place to the toothy grinned all time great. In 1923 George made His debut appearance with the ukulele at the Alhambra Theatre in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, subject to a wager placed by cast member in the dressing room, in that Formby took the uke to stage in his act.

Mr.C recalls as a youngster his Grandma Donhilda telling the tale of meeting Mr.Formby whilst a young girl working as Usherette at the Alhambra at that time. From musical orientated family history background, P.E.C esquire followed family suit and took to stage as early as 7 years of age. It was only when in 2005 a local pub landlord persuaded Mr.C to learn of the ukulele and perform a Formby number at the pub...Bud's hath flowered ever since. 100's of performances followed including aid to charities : RAFA, RBL, Help For Heroes, Dogs for the Blind, British Heart Foundation, MacMillan Nurses and Cancer Research to name but few. The Charisma, humour and song of Formby will remain!
